• There will be local food guides available when you check in, which can direct you to some awesome sustainable, organic, etc. places to eat in the area.

• If you still need a place to stay, we recommend the UCSC inn (http://www.ucscinn.com). You can also search for other lodging at http://santacruz.org/lodg-dine/lodg-dine.shtml.

• For those who live close to Santa Cruz or are planning on staying through Monday the 18th, there will be some great events taking place. More information on these events will be available when you check in.

I'm going to the following event at Stanford because our food choices heavily impact the environment.

March 3, 2008
Michael Pollan
In Defense of Food: The Omnivore's Solution
7:30pm
Kresge Auditorium

Pollan teaches at UC Berkeley in The Knight Program in Science and Environmental Journalism. He is the author of The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals, 2006 and his latest book In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto was published this past January.
(Co-sponsored by The Program in Human Biology.)

*If you get there early, you can eat a special meal in honor of "The Omnivore's Dilemma" at the Stanford Dining Hall.
